HDMI PCB By Feature
What is HDMI PCB?
As mentioned in this article, an HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface; it was once introduced by huge companies, such as Sony and Toshiba. They are used as a means to transport audio and videos in HD signals.
In terms of PCBs, they are commonly utilized to deliver high-rated signals from one port to another port. Moreover, HDMI is the ideal choice for data transfer.
Even Media Players, Televisions, Xbox, PlayStations, and many other digital devices deploy an HDMI since it enhances the overall performance of these devices.
One HDMI PCB may transport conventional, high-definition, and improved video signals by providing up to six (6) channels for digital data transmission.

Different HDMI PCB Cables
The following are the various cables for an HDMI PCB:
- Standard – It is capable of supporting 4.95 GB/s at 720P to 1080P resolution.
- Ethernet Standard – It has similar capabilities as the standard cable; however, it has its own HDMI ethernet channel.
- High-Speed – It can tolerate 10 GB/s with 1080P to 4K resolution at 30 Hz.
- Ethernet High-Speed – It has the same capabilities as the high-speed cable, but it has its own HDMI ethernet channel.
- Premium – It is capable of supporting 18 GB/s with 4K resolution at 60 Hz.
- Ultra-High-Speed – It can sustain 48 GB/s at an exceptional speed rate with 8K resolution at 60 Hz, and 4K resolution at 120 Hz.
Specifications of an HDMI PCB
We have the following specifications for an HDMI PCB:
- HDMI Speed – It can tolerate 5 GB/s at maximum.
- HDMI Bandwidth – It has a band frequency of 0 up to 10 GHz.
- HDMI Conformance – It is compatible with HD Projectors, HDTVs, and other digital devices.
- HDMI Material Type – It comprises thick copper wires guarded by a plastic layer; it aids in preventing interference, loss of signal, and degradation.
- HDMI Impedance – It should have a higher impedance value since it will have less cable noise.
- HDMI Application – It should be able to deliver audio-video signals successfully.

In essence, HDMI connectors are the latest approach to connecting audio and video; however, many individuals are still unsure how they function.
An HDMI connector has been renowned worldwide for delivering HD signals, high-quality audio-video content, speed, and bandwidth.
Thus, it stands out among the many alternative wire connectors in the industry. Also, these connectors were discovered in the early 2000s.
Finally, there are already seven (7) revisions of HDMI connectors; all of it has significantly contributed to its current specification and functionality.

My encounter with them is very flawless; they addressed all of my concerns and requirements immediately without any problems. They even suggested some inputs on how to make my project better; it was super helpful to me. As for its quality and performance, everything is outstanding; I couldn’t find any flaws. I strongly suggest going for PCBTok for every PCB needs you may have; they are the best!”Jeremiah Osborne, Computer Hardware Professional from Melton, Victoria
“Out of all the manufacturers I have tried in the past, nothing beats the quality of service and products of PCBTok. I’ve been designing PCBs for years already, and I have encountered several mistakes because of small errors on them. Fortunately, PCBTok performs thorough inspections of my designs; they had spotted flaws in my design before they manufactured it. I was delighted because of their service, and I am overwhelmed with their professionalism in doing their jobs. To be frank, I haven’t experienced nagging lately from my direct supervisor because of PCBTok’s produced boards. With that, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to your team, PCBTok!”Dean Hensley, Design Engineer from Kirkcaldy, Scotland
“Truthfully speaking, all of my products from PCBTok are of premium quality; they are affordable, yet it feels like they are produced expensively. Although they utilized high-grade raw resources and advanced technologies in producing my orders, they always found a way to reduce the cost of my purchases without sacrificing the quality of my boards. In short, they offer good and incomparable offers to their customers. Thank you so much for the outstanding experience, PCBTok!”Theodore Wagner, Electronics Technician from Topeka, Kansas
As its name indicates, it is a micro-sized cable widely deployed in electronics devices, including TVs and Gaming Consoles. Moreover, it is also termed the miniaturized version of a High-Definition Multimedia Interface.
All of these technologies were developed to combine audio and video into a unified user interface that could be accessed on smartphones, laptops, and other compact devices.
Similar to another type of connector, it has its standard size and has been classified as type D. In this case, its expected value ranges from 2.8 mm up to 6.4 mm.
Furthermore, the micro connector’s pin assignment is unique compared to other connector types. Most often, this ranges between 5 and 1.
In this section, we’d like to share with you the layout rules of this particular board. All such guidelines can be included in the layout specification file or incorporated directly as restrictions to your schematic.
- In terms of its HDMI channel, it should be composed of four (4) TMDS pairs.
- As for its TMDS signals, it should have a single-ended impedance of 50Ω at ±10%, and its pair shall have a differential impedance of 100 Ω at ± 5%.
- Signals inside a TMDS pair must have dimensions within 3 mm of one another.
- There must be no 90-degree corners on signals that are part of a TMDS pair. Beveled corners are required.
- The TMDS signal chamfer length ratio to trace width must be between 3 and 5.
- TMDS pairings must be distanced from one another by at least 1.2 mm.
Kindly message us for the full-blown layout guidelines for better assistance.
