Step-Up or Step-Down the Voltage with Transformer PCB

A transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another by electromagnetic induction. It is most often used to change voltage, but it can also be used to change current and impedance. A transformer consists of two or more coils of wire wound around a magnetic core. The wires are electrically insulated from one another, and they are called secondary and primary windings.

When you are working on a project and you need to step up or down the voltage, you can use a transformer. You will need to know the input and output voltages for each of your components. If you have an input voltage of 12 volts and an output voltage of 24 volts, then you will need a step up transformer. If you have an input voltage of 12 volts and an output voltage of 3 volts, then you will need a step down transformer.

If you need help with your transformer PCB, then PCBTok can provide you with a quote or consultation service to assist in your manufacturing process.

Transformer PCB by Type

Step-Down Transformer

A step-down transformer is a type of stepping down the voltage and increasing the current. It converts high voltage and low current from the primary side of the transformer to low voltage of the circuit boards.

Step-Up Transformer

Step-up the voltage from the primary coil to the secondary coil while managing the same power at the rated frequency in both coils. This means that the resulting voltage is higher than the input voltage.

Isolation Transformer

Can reduce electrical transients and harmonics, as well as provide galvanic isolation. To transfer alternating current power from a source of AC power while isolating the powered device from the power source.

Iron Core Transformer

An Iron Core Transformer is a type of electrical transformer which uses an iron core. It increases the strength of the magnetic field. The magnetic field passes through (or cuts) the secondary coil.

Ferrite Core Transformer

Ferrite core transformers are an important factor in the development of electrical power systems. They are made up of a non-conductive, ferromagnetic compound that has its winding made from ferrite cores.

Toroidal Core Transformer

Offers high magnetic efficiency and comes in small size. Designed with a uniform cross-section area and coated with a material that provides high breakdown voltage, easy to use even in extreme environments.

Transformer PCB By Voltage (5)

  • 6V Transformer

Our 6V Transformer circuit boards are perfect for circuits that run off of 6 volts. This is the circuit board of choice for many small, simple projects.

  • 9V Transformer

Made from high quality materials and built to last, this 9V Transformer circuit board is designed to allow you to easily add a power supply option to your project.

  • 12V Transformer

12V transformer printed circuit boards are made with high quality material and include an internal power supply and average lifespan of 20 years and more.

  • 15V Transformer

The 15V Transformer circuit boards are regulated, which means that the output voltage of the voltage regulator will be almost the same as input voltage.

  • 20V Transformer

Designed with the highest quality and reliability in mind. Used to create a space for high-power components and available in different configurations.

Transformer PCB by Function (5)

  • Power Transformer

Low voltage transformer and associated circuitry to provide the input power required by your product. Provides electrical isolation so that the circuitry inside your product is isolated from the mains power supply.

  • Measurement Transformer

Allow easy voltage and current measurement. They are used in many different applications including power supply regulation, motor control, crystal oscillators, instrumentation and communications equipment.

  • Distribution transformer circuit boards are commonly used to isolate electrical components from one another and protect them from hazards. They can be used as an output source for power circuits.

  • Pulse Transformer

Lets you drive servos, DC motors, and other actuators with a pulse signal instead of a continuous one. It can be used for driving stepper motors for precision motion control as well as many other applications!

  • Audio Output Transformer

Audio Output Transformer circuit boards for audio equipment, where the output amplifier has an unfiltered power supply. The output transformer is typically a high impedance, medium to low voltage.

Convert Alternating Current from One to Another

When we are talking about the conversion of AC to AC, the most commonly used devices are transformers.

A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy to another circuit using electromagnetic induction. It is usually made with a core made of a magnetic material, such as iron, with a winding of insulated wire around it. The primary and secondary windings are used to transfer power between two circuits that are electrically isolated from each other.

A transformer consists of two or more coils of wire wound around a core. One coil is referred to as primary coil while other coils are called secondary coils. The primary coil is connected to an alternating current source while secondary coil carries direct current (DC). The process by which AC voltage from one circuit is converted into DC voltage for another circuit is known as rectification.

Insulating Materials of PCBTok’s Transformer PCB

Insulating Materials of PCBTok’s Transformer PCB
Insulating Materials of PCBTok’s Transformer PCB (1)

PCBTok’s Transformer PCBs are made from Insulating Materials for better efficiency.

It is a high quality, thick and rigid insulation material that has been developed to help transformers and reactors operate at higher efficiency levels. This material can be used in the construction of transformers, reactors and other heat exchangers.

It is an extruded PVC product with an outer layer of aluminum foil. This insulation system improves electrical performance of transformers by lowering the dielectric constant and increasing the leakage current level. The aluminum foil layer also acts as a protective barrier against moisture ingress.

Transformer PCB Fabrication

Moisture Resistant Components

Moisture resistant components are designed to resist exposure to weather and humidity. They don’t corrode or rust, so your transformer PCBs can withstand the elements.

PCBTok’s Transformer PCBs are made from moisture resistant components. The components used in these PCBs have been tested according to the industry standards set by IPC-610D, which is a standard for measuring moisture resistance.

This means that they don’t rust, which is a problem that can cause short circuits and reduce the lifespan of your transformer. The use of moisture resistant PCBs also makes it much easier to install and maintain transformers, since they’re less likely to corrode over time.

Polarity Tested and Ratio Tested Transformer PCB (1)

The primary benefit of polarity testing and ratio testing is its increased safety. This is due to its use of low-voltage energy storage and high voltage conversion. The purpose of this system is to reduce the risk of injury from electrical shock by eliminating the need for live conductors within the machine or device.

In addition, this transformer PCB offers improved efficiency over previous circuit boards. This results from its ability to store more energy than traditional transformers while using less space and weight.

The result is lower operating costs over time as well as reduced maintenance costs associated with replacing old equipment with newer versions that offer better performance levels.
